Colonial Figure Skating Club

Colonial Figure Skating Club began operations in 1972 with an initial membership of 20, skating on one rink, and has grown to a membership of over 400, skating on three rinks. The Colonial Figure Skating Club offers and supports all venues of figure skating, including basic skills, moves in the field, freestyle, dance, pairs, and synchronized skating.

Colonial presents special events each year, including the Colonial Open competition and Colonial Synchronized Open. Colonial also offers an annual ice show, Ice Crystals, as a way for our skaters and parents to participate, relax, and have fun after a stimulating year of training and competition.
Colonial possesses one of the nation's most experienced, proven, and effective team of coaches.

Our staff is comprised of more than forty top professionals, all of whom belong to the Professional Skaters Association (PSA), and many of whom have coached regional, national, and international medalists, and hold United States Figure Skating Association (USFSA) gold medals in figures, freestyle, and dance. This professional team offers first-rate coaching in the fields of free skating, moves in the field, dance, pairs, off-ice training, ballet, modern dance, and choreography, all in a modern facility that consists of three ice surfaces, a weight room, ballet studio, and administrative offices. Former Olympians, national and international coaches, and experienced show performers round out the wealth of experience from which our skaters benefit.

In addition to being a solid training ground for the competitive freestyle skater, the Colonial Figure Skating Club also offers the finest coaching and environment for the "up and coming" skater. The professional staff delivers top-quality instruction from basic skills to preliminary to senior. Colonial skaters regularly enjoy success at qualifying, non-qualifying, and inter-club competitions.

Colonial skaters benefit not only from their coaches' strong skating background, but also their professionalism, commitment, and educational backgrounds. Many of our coaches hold bachelors and masters degrees, and possess understanding in relevant fields such as nutrition, psychology, communications, child development, physiology, and education. Each day the staff demonstrates its professionalism, love for its work, and genuinecommitment to the development of the students.
